General Species Information:
Found in the Murray Mallee SA and possibly elsewhere
Most likely Western Bowing Brown Lacewing (Psychobiella occidentalis) based on location.
~6mm body length, with a much larger ~19mm wingspan.
We think this is a female. Came to a night light.
They look very similar to Tasman Lacewings, but the wing venation doesn't have the tell tale dark streaks.
While these shots are all of the same specimen, we flipped the images so the head points to the left (as is our practice anyway) but here it shows both sides in the same orientation. Notice the wing venation along the leading edge (at the arrow) varies considerably from side to side. This can also be seen on the ventral shot as well.
