There's the external top & bottom eye-lids, the same as humans. But there's a 3rd one, shown here, called a Nictitating Membrane. It's just a cleaning/protection mechanism, but has destroyed many a good photo of a bird we've taken. It makes the bird look dead. General Species Information: Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA), the Flinders Ranges and elsewhere Always chatting. Skipping from one bush to the next. A look-out in a nearby tree keeps them out of camera range
