| Species: | Pied Currawong (Strepera graculina)| This Photo: | 🔍S1, profile🔎 | Thank you George Seagull (George_Seagull) for confirming the id of this species for us General Species Information: People often confuse our local currawongs with these. We've posted these to show you the very small differences between them. The Pied has very small, hard to see, white patches on the outside of the wings, which you can usually see when it's sitting. Both species have big obvious white patch under their rump, which generally seems to be where the confusion comes from. We do get Pied Currawongs in South Australia, but roughly only down south & east of Robe; ie a tiny corning in the south east. They don't inhabit the vast majority of South Australia. So if you see a Currawong in the Murraylands, Adelaide or further north/west, it won't be a Pied; it'll it be a Grey Currawong (Strepera versicolor).
