This was taken on the same day as the bird above was seen patrolling this nest. It was hot, ~39 deg C, that day. So the parents have piled material on top to add insulation from the heat; it's about 1.5m or more high. General Species Information: Found in the Murray Mallee SA and possibly elsewhere The parents constantly adjust the nest to keep the incubation temperature at 30 deg C. You can see the different heights of the two different mounds here. The 1st has eggs on a very hot day (~39 deg C), the second is probably empty.
