Looks like an upright branch stump in a tree. Motley brown. To be clear, Marsden, Alan & Mark confirmed to species level. Sam only confirmed the female as P. s. ssp brachypterus, he said "While it seems brachypterus is indeed the dominant taxon throughout the Murray Mallee etc., males like this (lacking the extensive rufous throat) are harder to assign subspecies to." As such, the males here may be P. s. ssp. strigoides. Interestingly we've only found Males on Ellura so far, and it's been 12 years since we've seen one!
