White Clam Lerp (Cardiaspina sp)Class: Animals (Animalia) - Jointed Legs (Arthropoda) - Insects (Insecta)
Order: True Bugs (Hemiptera)
Family: Lerp Making Psylloid (Psylloidea: Spondyliaspidinae)
Species: White Clam Lerp (Cardiaspina sp)
This Photo:     Adult

Thank you Dr Francesco Martoni for identifying this species for us

EXTRA - Photo Specific Information:
Not only has it sprouted wings but suddenly the body is more 3D. The adults have incredibly detailed markings. They are so small you can hardly see them, yet they still need camouflage to hide from the birds.
General Species Information:
Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA), the Adelaide Hills and elsewhere
We thought this was Hyalinaspis sp.
There is a bit of confusion with the naming of these. The Lerp is the housing. The bug inside is a Psylloid that produces the lerp; the bug isn't a lerp.
