General Species Information:
Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA) and elsewhere
~27mm long male, ~35 to ~40mm long females.
Undescribed and incredibly similar to Mimetic Gumleaf Grasshopper (Goniaea opomaloides), but the leg colour differentiates them. Red here, Purple/blue for G. opomaloides.
S3 had a very unusual looking abdomen. Typically female grasshoppers have a very consistent looking abdomen; basically two black-tipped upward hooks (which are actually ovipositors. Here (in the abdomen shot) it seems she has retracted them. In other blury photo's the black tips are visible.
