Matthew Connors said "You can sex any mantis of any age by counting the segments on the underside of the abdomen - males have 8 and females have 6 (can sometimes look like 7)" He later said "You can differentiate this from O. marginatus by the thicker pronotum and the inside of the forearm coluration is different".
