| Species: | Mistletoe Moth (Comocrus behri)| This Photo: | 🔍S3, Male, Head🔎 | Synonym: | Phalaenoides behri | Thank you Terra Occ for confirming the id of this species for us General Species Information: Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA), the Adelaide Hills and elsewhere ~25mm long with wingspan ~62 (male) to ~70mm (female). Males & females are not easy to separate. One feature we've used is the orange tail hair is longer on the male, compared with the female. It' common name comes about as it's larvae feed exclusively on mistletoe, howeer, we found our first (an adult male) at Ellura flying a round a Dryland Tea-tree in flower. When we released it, he drank from it for quite a long time. We have very few mistletoe specimens, so are extremely lucky to have ever seen one here.
