Then we found out it was a native. Fortunately we hadn't erradicated it and it soon returned in numbers. This highlights you need to be wary of the difference between "garden" or "farm" weeds and "environmental" weeds. While not found in the Murraylands, it is found in the Lowan Mallee region (classed as Rare there), and least concern in the Adelaide Hills. It is also classed as Rare in the Flinders Ranges.
