The bud & flower stems seem to begin in a prostrate position, then become erect as the fruits mature. A very unusual grass seed head. Looks like a sedge of some sort. The fruits are strikingly similar to Native Carrot fruit. A rarely recognised species, even though it's least concern throughout the semi-arid to arid interior of Australia.
