| Species: | Sticky Long-heads (Podotheca angustifolia)| This Photo: | 🔍S2, Bud🔎 | Thank you (GrampiansHiker) for confirming the id of this species for us General Species Information: Found in the Murray Mallee SA and possibly elsewhere Plants are ~20-250mm wide (this is very variable). In some plants, they have just the leaves & flower standing up. In others, the flower stem is long, trails along the ground, with multiple flowers. Buds are about 25mm long. Petal-less flowers, with just yellow florets poking out the top of the large flower calyx; ergo "Long-heads". While the florets are always yellow on top, their tubular base can often be red. Notice also that the tips of the sepals are red and bend over into a strong hook. The reason for the large number of "whole plant" photo's is to try and give some impression of their variety.
