Thank you Ethan Beaver & Axel Kallies for confirming the id of this species for us General Species Information: Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA) and elsewhere Head & body ~73mm, wingspan ~140mm or wider (hard to say as she lost her wing tips) A number of Endoxyla females are flightless with reduced wings (brachypterous). But with this species the female has fully developed wings. Notice how the female has brown & white striped hindwings, where as the male has all white hindwings. Neither Axel nor Ethan recognised this species we get regularly on Ellura. We originally thought it was close to E. encalypti, but Ethan said "I have never seen E. encalypti in SA, I doubt that occurs here." Axel also said "Pretty sure that is not E. lituratus" | |||||
