Species: | Scotodes Carpet (Eucymatoge scotodes)This Photo: | 🔍Dorsal, bightened🔎 | Thank you Axel Kallies for identifying and Ned Fisher for confirming the id of this species for us General Species Information: Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA) and elsewhere ~9mm long & ~28mm wingspan. The lighting has been bumped up to the wazzoo to highlight the lines/patterns/colours. Otherwise it would just appear like a black moth, not very diagnostic. While not actually black, it's very dark. As such, several similar shots showing different perspectives; lighting, wing placement & focus. These are all of the same specimen. It's quite worn, with a lot of missing scales over the wing. The hindwings are also damaged/missing pieces at the posterior. We originally thought this was Horisme mortuata.
