| Species: | Dryland Bark Moth (Scioglyptis sp)| This Photo: | S1, Male, underwing | Thank you Marilyn Hewish for identifying and Axel Kallies for helping with the id of this species for us General Species Information: Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA) and elsewhere ~10mm long & 28mm wingspan. Males have very large bipectinate (2 rowed) antennae, where as the females have thin thread-like antennae. We thought this was Scioglyptis loxographa, but Marilyn Hewish kindly advised otherwise tentatively suggesting Scioglyptis chionomera. They are quite similar, and MoV (Moths of Victoria) Part 7 has excellent images of the diagnostic differences. S1 was quite worn making id difficult, but then S2 was fresher, on which Axel commented: "I think it is a Scioglyptis, but different from chionomera. The latter always has this little black half moon in the hindwing (lacking here). And there are a few other differences."
