Thank you Tony and Jenny Dominelli for confirming the id of this species for us EXTRA - Photo Specific Information: We got lucky when we carefully cut one of these galls open to see what was inside. Due to correct timing there was a Gall inducing insect inside. We thought we had squashed it, but it was a Gall Wasp (species yet to be id'ed) and took time to unravel it's wings. Later we opened older / larger galls and found they all had a hole in them. The whole was the escape route/"birth canal" of the Gall Wasp, so they were empty. General Species Information: Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA) and elsewhere Previously we considered these to have swollen fruits, which didn't make much sense. But of course we now realise they are galls. | |||||
