| Species: | Grassy Knoll Moss (Grimmia pulvinata)| This Photo: | 🔍Confusing🔎 | Other name: | Grey-cushioned Grimmia | Thank you Alan Dandie (Alan_Dandie) & János Vörösbaranyi (VbJanos) for identifying and Andrew Thornhill for confirming the id of this species for us EXTRA - Photo Specific Information: This confused us for a long time, until we realised it's a different Long-sporangium species inside this species. János Vörösbaranyi said it's probably Didymodon, so we've added a separate record of that. General Species Information: Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA), the Adelaide Hills and elsewhere With mosses it can be difficult to separate the different species in a photo. Here there are a number shown together with G. pulvinata. To clarify, Alan said "Capsules inverted amongst the leaves". János Vörösbaranyi said (of the Sporangia photo) "The green moss with long, hyaline (silvery), hairpoint and round hanging capsules (capsules on short, reflexed setae) is G. pulvinata. The moss with yellow and red leaves and short point is something else (probably Dydimodon sp). "
