Thank you George Seagull & Patrick Wake for confirming the id of this species for us

General Species Information:
Found in the Murray Mallee SA, Riverland, Coastal Areas and possibly elsewhere
Sometimes you may wonder about sub-species and their true nature. Thanks to Thomas Mesaglio who clarified this one by noting:
"The Clements Checklist of Birds of the World currently lists two ssp of grey teal, exactly as reflected in iNat. For the autonym, it says:
New Guinea to Australia, New Caledonia and New Zealand
and for the other ssp:
Formerly Rennell (Solomon Islands). Extinct ca 1959
there is no uncertainty involving the subspecies of this species; both subspecies are valid entities, it just happens to be that one of them is now extinct and so by default every single observation that gets uploaded falls into only one of the subspecies. All sources agree on this: AFD, ALA, iNat, Clements, and all other major bird lists too."
