General Species Information:
Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA), and elsewhere
This fly was about 16mm long (body & head).
It was very loud when in flew in near us on a hot day (over 40 deg) looking for some shade on the side of the caravan.
It sounded similar to a large wasp or big robberfly.
